The strongest community work is collaborative. Plaza’s initiatives bring together elected officials, the NYPD, local nonprofits, civic groups, employees, and volunteers around practical needs.
Helping students begin the school year prepared.
Annual backpack and school-supply events have grown from 1,000 kits in 2022 to 2,000 in 2024, with another community-wide celebration held in 2025.
Making Thanksgiving a little easier for Brooklyn families.
Plaza’s recurring turkey distributions have provided food directly to families and community organizations, with additional neighborhood deliveries after the main event.
Creating opportunities to gather, learn, and thrive.
From Youth Summerfest sponsorship to back-to-school celebrations, Plaza supports events centered on Brooklyn’s young people.
